Terms of use

In short
- Biscuit never asks who you are. No account, no email, no phone number, no ID documents, no KYC of any kind, now or in the future.
- Biscuit never holds your coins. We can’t freeze, block, reverse or recover them.
- Exchange swaps are carried out by independent exchanges, atomic swaps by independent market makers. Biscuit never adds a fee.
- Biscuit is free software, provided as is.
No identity checks
Biscuit has no accounts. Using the wallet, its exchange swaps or its atomic swaps never requires your name, email address, phone number or any document, and we will never ask for them. We have no way to tie a wallet or a swap to a person.
Your coins
Your keys are created on your computer and stay there, in wallet files encrypted with your password. We never have access to them, so we can’t freeze, block or seize your coins, and we can’t recover them either: if you lose your seed and your password, nobody can give your coins back. Write your seeds down and keep them safe.
Swaps
Exchange swaps are carried out by exchanges that Trocador works with. Biscuit only shows exchanges rated A by Trocador: the ones that don’t ask for your ID. You send your coins to the exchange and the exchange sends what you bought. During a swap the exchange, not Biscuit, holds the coins, and its own terms apply: if a swap is delayed or fails, its support is the one that can help. Biscuit shows its support link and the swap’s identifiers. Exchange swaps are off in Tor mode; see the privacy policy for why and what our server records when a swap is created.
Atomic swaps are made directly with independent market makers, using the protocol from eigenwallet. Nobody holds your coins in between: either the swap completes, or your Bitcoin comes back to you. To get a refund, Biscuit must be opened in time, as explained in Atomic swaps. Some makers keep a small share of the Bitcoin when a swap is refunded; Biscuit shows it before you start.
Biscuit never adds a fee to a swap. For exchange swaps, Trocador shares part of the exchange’s own fee with us: you pay the same as on the exchange, and it never changes how offers are ranked.
The software
Biscuit is free software. Its source is public and its releases are signed and built reproducibly. It is provided as is, without warranty, as its license says: check addresses and amounts before you confirm, and keep your copy up to date.
You are responsible for following the laws that apply where you live.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be published here with its date, and announced in the Journal if the change matters.
