Ethereum, USDT and USDC are coming to Biscuit
Ethereum is coming to Biscuit, and with it the two dollar tokens people use the most: USDT and USDC on Ethereum. They will sit next to Monero, Bitcoin and Litecoin, in the same wallet. It is being tested now and will come in a future version.
What it will look like:
- Optional, like every coin: Monero works on its own. Ethereum, USDT and USDC are added one by one, with the + next to the coins, only if you want them.
- The same 12 words: Ethereum uses the seed you already have for Bitcoin and Litecoin, and the same addresses as most Ethereum wallets, so it can be restored elsewhere. You can also add other Ethereum wallets with their own words.
- Swaps between any two coins: BTC to ETH, XMR to USDT, USDC to LTC… through exchange swaps, received straight into your wallet.
- Fees, said plainly: on Ethereum, sending USDT or USDC costs a small fee paid in ETH, from the same address. Biscuit says so when you add them, shows the fee in your currency, and tells you when the network is busy and waiting would be cheaper.
- Ethereum only, never the wrong network: Biscuit receives USDT and USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20). USDT sent from another network, such as Tron, would be lost, and Biscuit says so on the receive page.
- Your own node if you want: balances come from public Ethereum nodes and the history from Blockscout, an open source explorer. You can set your own node and your own Blockscout instead, and all of it works through Tor.
As before, your keys never leave your computer, and every send waits for your explicit confirmation.
