Frequently asked questions
- Does Biscuit hold my coins?
- No. Your keys are created on your computer and stay there. There’s no account and no server of ours that could hold or move your coins.
- Is Biscuit free?
- Yes, and it doesn’t add any fee to your transactions. When you use an exchange swap, we may get a share of the exchange’s fee. You pay the same as you would on the exchange, and it never changes how offers are ranked.
- How is Biscuit related to Feather Wallet?
- Biscuit is built on Feather. Monero works exactly as it does in Feather, and we added Bitcoin, Litecoin and swaps on top. The Feather developers aren’t involved in Biscuit, so please send Biscuit problems to us, not to them.
- Can I use my Biscuit seed in another wallet?
- Yes. The Monero seed is a standard Polyseed, and the Bitcoin and Litecoin seed is standard BIP39 with native SegWit paths (BIP84).
- Why does my Bitcoin address change after I get paid?
- So the people who pay you can’t see your other payments on a block explorer. The old addresses keep working. Find them under All addresses… on Receive, or tick Keep this address after payments if you want one that never changes. See Addresses.
- Why are exchange swaps off in Tor mode?
- Our swap partner, Trocador, requires us to record the IP address each exchange swap is created from, and a Tor address can’t be traced to anyone. So our server refuses to create exchange swaps through Tor. Atomic swaps don’t go through our server and work over Tor: see Atomic swaps, and the privacy policy for what is recorded.
- Why does Windows or macOS warn me before opening Biscuit?
- Biscuit isn’t signed with a Microsoft certificate or notarized by Apple, so both systems are cautious the first time. Verify the file, then open it as described for Windows and macOS.
- My antivirus flags Biscuit as a coin miner.
- Monero’s code includes its mining algorithm, and some antivirus software flags that on sight. Biscuit never mines. Verify your download to make sure it’s ours.
- I lost my password.
- Nobody can recover it, us included. Restore your wallet from your seeds with New/Restore and pick a new password.
- Where do I report a bug?
- Help › Report bug, or write to us from the contact page. Never send your seed or your wallet files to anyone.
- Is Biscuit open source?
- Yes. Biscuit is free software under the BSD 3-Clause License, like Feather and Monero, and its atomic swap helper is under the GPL-3.0. The source of every release is on the download page, and releases can be rebuilt from it.
- Is there a phone version?
- No. Biscuit is a desktop wallet for Windows, macOS and Linux. Your seeds work in phone wallets too, if you need your coins on the go.
- Which coins does Biscuit support?
- Monero, Bitcoin and Litecoin. We’d rather do three coins well than many badly.
- Can I move my wallet to another computer?
- Yes: copy your wallet files (see Wallet files and folders) and open them there, or restore from your seeds. Copying the files keeps your labels, contacts and swap history.
