A payment I sent failed

A payment can fail to reach the network, or reach it and still seem missing to the recipient. Here’s how to tell and what to do.

Monero payment marked Failed

The node you were connected to didn’t pass your payment on to the network: badly configured or badly connected. Your coins didn’t move.

  1. Right-click the payment in History › Resend transaction, and Broadcast.
  2. Check a block explorer a few minutes later. If it isn’t there, connect to another node (Settings › Network › Node) and resend.
  3. If you’d rather give up on it, Remove from history removes it from the list.

With your own node, you can also relay it from the node: relay_tx <txid> in the monerod console. Multibroadcast, in Settings › Transactions, sends every payment to several nodes and avoids most of these failures.

The recipient says it didn’t arrive

  1. Right-click the payment › Copy › Transaction ID, and look it up on a block explorer. Not there? See above.
  2. Right-click › Show details, and check that the address under Destinations is the right one. Coins sent to a wrong address are gone.
  3. If both are right, the problem is on their side. Send them a payment proof.

Bitcoin and Litecoin

A payment that stays unconfirmed for a long time usually has too low a fee for how busy the network is: speed it up.
