Fees and speeding up

Bitcoin and Litecoin fees depend on how full the blocks are, and on the size of your transaction in virtual bytes, not on the amount. Biscuit takes the current estimate from the Electrum server.

Choosing the speed

FastNormalSlow
Aims for2 blocks6 blocks24 blocks
Bitcoin~20 min~1 hour~4 hours
Litecoin~5 min~15 min~1 hour

The rate shows next to the choice, in satoshis per virtual byte (sat/vB), and the confirmation shows the total fee. When blocks aren’t full, often on Litecoin, all three cost the same: going faster costs nothing more, and Biscuit says so.

Speeding up a payment

Every payment Biscuit sends can be replaced with a higher fee (replace-by-fee). If one is slow to confirm, right-click it in History › Speed up (raise the fee). Biscuit suggests the current Fast rate; you can choose another, higher than the current one.

The payment itself doesn’t change: same recipient, same amount. The extra fee comes from your change, or from another of your coins if the change is too small. The old version is replaced: only one of the two can confirm.

Received a slow payment?

Only the sender can speed it up. Until it’s confirmed, it shows as unconfirmed in your balance and can’t be spent.
